Free Living Will Clinic OfferedApril 8th, 2005 Flatwoods, KY---Local attorney Stephanie Lother Hembroff today announced that she will offer a walk-in clinic on Friday, April 8th, to prepare Kentucky Advanced Health Care Directives (more commonly known as “Living Wills”) free of charge to Kentucky residents. The topic of Living Wills has been in the news recently in connection with the Terri Schiavo case. “Regardless of one’s position regarding the moral and political issues which surrounded the matter, it underscored the importance of making your wishes known by executing a clear legal document,” Ms. Hembroff says. Although the State Attorney General offers free Living Will forms, many people find it useful to consult with an attorney to explain their rights under Kentucky law, to confirm that they are expressing their wishes clearly, and to ensure that the document is properly executed. Each participant in the clinic will be offered the opportunity to designate a health care surrogate and execute a Living Will. Ms. Hembroff will meet with each person individually to review the options available and to execute the document or, if they prefer, will provide a copy of the Kentucky Attorney General’s “Living Will Packet” for them to take home to review and execute later. The clinic is being offered free of charge and will be available on a walk-in basis on Friday, April 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The clinic will be held at Ms. Hembroff’s law office located at 751 Bellefonte Road, Suite 2 (near Dairy Queen) in Flatwoods. No appointment is necessary, but participants may call ahead so that the documents may be prepared in advance. For more information, contact Marilyn Sargent at 833-9462.
