Stephanie Lother Hembroff was born in Ashland, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Randy Lother, a businessman and former policeman, and Kathy Bailey Lother, a teacher. Stephanie's brother, Ryan, is also an attorney.

Ms. Hembroff  received her B.A. Degree in French and International Economics at the University of Kentucky in 1997. While an undergraduate, she was a member and the Philanthropy Chair of Delta Zeta Sorority, and was one of the school's two Truman Scholar nominees for 1996.

In 2000, Stephanie received her J.D. Degree from UK's College of Law. During Law School, she served as treasurer of the Trial Advocacy Board, President of the Society for Public Interest Law, and member of the ATLA litigation team. In 1998 she was named UK's Outstanding Oral Advocate. Stephanie is a member of the Boyd County, Kentucky, and American Bar Associations. 

Ms. Hembroff  has practiced extensively in the Greenup and Boyd County District and Circuit Courts, and has appeared before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and most courts in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Ms. Hembroff's areas of practice include divorce and custody, adoption, personal bankruptcy, criminal law, personal injury litigation, medical malpractice litigation,  and wills and probate.

To encourage that arrangement, her office has adopted the following practices:

• Except in extraordinary circumstances, phone calls are returned within 2 business days.
• New clients are given an estimate regarding costs, and are contacted before overruns occur.
• Clients are notified of all important calls and copied on most letters.
• Clients are presented with alternative courses of action and offered evaluations of the pros and cons of each.
• All clients, potential clients, opponents and fellow attorneys are treated with dignity and respect.
